Kevin M. Gallagher is a writer, musician and systems administrator based in western Massachusetts. He is pursuing issues related to digital rights, freedom of information, privacy, copyrights and information security. As the director and founder of Free Barrett Brown support network, Kevin gives insight into the US government charges and broader impact of the case for other journalists, hacktivists and whistleblowers. Brown faces a possible sentence of 100 years for copying and pasting a link in an online forum. Kevin explains how Barrett’s Project PM focused on the content of Stratfor emails that exposed details of a contractor intelligence network and lins to US government assault on Wikileaks where the contents of the leak constitute the Global Intelligence files.
