Kelly Thomas was a 37-year-old mentally ill homeless man.
He was brutally beaten by six Fullerton police officers on July 5, 2011.
He later died from the wounds inflicted by the officers (Manuel Ramos & Jay Cicinelli). The officers were acquitted of wrongdoing in the death.
The law enforcement officers who were acquitted of charges stemming from the killing and other officers that were on the scene were targeted by Anonymous (#OpFullerton): "We do not accept a not guilty verdict in the murder of Kelly Thomas! We demand the murderers to be imprisoned or Fullerton will continue to feel the wrath of the people".
Hi my name is Kelly Thomas.
I was beaten and murdered by Fullerton Police Officers while begging for my life 102 times. I heard the police officers bragging about how bad they beat me before I was put into an ambulance. I later died in the hospital, the officers were arrested and received a trial for their crime. Unfortunately, my life is not considered as important as theirs considered that they walked away from committing a murder, hands clean. My family is in pain now while the officers now enjoy a new chapter in life.
- I need you all to care about me and my life. I need you to speak out in disgust with the judicial system and show the people that we will not tolerate these kinds of police activities. I can no longer speak for they have taken my voice, my life.
- Please, I am asking for you to realize that I am still human, not just a homeless man.
