Serena Shim was a reporter for Press TV who courageously reported on many significant events in the middle east before those events were reported by the corporate media. She risked her safety time and time again to do so. She was a true hero. She was fearless. She was a voice for truth in a world of lies. Operation Serena Shim has released several videos explaining many of the suspicious circumstances surrounding the car crash that resulted in Serena Shim’s death.

Serena Shim is described as a hero | by her family and supporters
Thousands thronged the streets of Bourj el-Barajneh on the day of her funeral. “People came from all over,” said her sister, Fatmeh Shim. “Everyone was clapping and screaming: ‘The hero’s here! The hero’s here! The hero’s here!’” An official inquiry into Serena Shim’s tragic death has never been issued or carried out. No verifiable autopsy report was ever conducted. Even the bare requisite of a criminal trial – allegedly scheduled to begin in March 2015 – was quashed by Turkey’s judiciary.
A rare effort of outreach to the family came in the form of a condolence letter from longtime US Representative John Conyers, a Democrat and current chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
“During Serena’s years of life she left a legacy of commitment to truth, justice and human rights. As a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, and friend, Serena lived an exceptional and honourable life. She has instilled these values in her children, and her spirit will continue to thrive through them. As an international journalist, a human rights reporter and war zone specialist, she touched many with her dedication towards the better good of humanity. Her achievements were great and her life should stand as an inspirational example to many.”

The mainstream media | don’t want you to say Serena Shim’s name
Two years on from Shim’s untimely death, the pain is still fresh and the wound of her passing still open. This has been exacerbated by the mountain of disinformation swirling around Serena’s final days, the failure of the American government to acknowledge her killing, their refusal to investigate it and the official disregard for her family’s attempts to achieve justice for Serena. Our of respect for the significance of her work, Serena has been honoured in the Arab American National Museum, which is affiliated with the Smithsonian. However, there has been a general academic neglect of her case by organisations that are supposed to protect and advocate for journalists as well as an almost blanket silence among the corporate US mainstream media.

Serena Shim was many things. Daughter. Sister. Mother. Fiercely loyal friend to many. Determined and well respected journalist. Intrepid researcher. Studious documenter of evidence. American citizen. Truth seeker. There are those who sought to describe her quite differently, however. Troublemaker. Irritant. Agent of misinformation. Threat. Spy. Target. Corporate mainstream media, the US Department of State, the Erdogan government of Turkey and NATO have done and continue to do as little as possible to seek any answers or credible information regarding Serena’s death.
